1. my reading => 1.a. characters seem to be powerful and all are hybrids (can do 2 positions in the ship) 1.b. I'm not sure I understand correctly : the extended task +> you roll 1 normal 2D20 ... then you roll 2D6 + XD6 + momentum VS Difficulty from 5 to 15 ? isn't it a little too easy ? 1.c. Damages : still not sure I understand ... the attacker roll his skill ... I see no opposition skill roll ... then damages are 1-4D6 (depending on the weapon) + security D6 + momentum spent D6 ... usually no armor .. and hit points = resilience + security (8-16) ... and if you make 5 damans at the same time the guy is injured ... isn't it a little the one who get the initiative OS the other ... then we spend points to try to keep the initiative and chain OS the group ...(without speaking about area damages done with momentum) 1.d. why is that momentum pool has no time limit ... I understand the teamwork mechanic you try to imply ... but it creates strange situations ... just like James Bond 007 RPG where players were doing pre-briefing actions to get heroism points before the real scenario starts .... but that was totally ok with the JB culture ... here souns a little akward.
2. the event => before starting let's say my players enjoyed a lot the afternoon together and the game ... but ... 2.a.check 1.b ... extended actions are done finger in the nose ... in 1 roll ... and if they help each other ... it starts to get insane ... I had players achieving 47 on extended task roll in 1 roll ... 11 D6 ... but as I say before .. even without boosting it you already get enough dice to over succeed ... 2.b check 1.c ... Damages .... mhhh ... first encounter with the neanderthals (5) turn 1 Neanderthal get the init : the command go out of the runabout with white flag gets a stone on the head =>stun ... Damages of a stone : 2D6 => 11 ... no soak ... stress : 7+2 ... anyway over 5 in a row ... so injuried Turn 2 PJ turn : the command spend 1 determination point to get up ... then he shoots stunning mode - 3D6 damages - 1PNJ down ... he spend 2 momentum to pass to the next PJ Turn 3 PJ Turn : the Conn shoots - 4D6 damages - OS another PNJ stunning mode ... spend 2 momentum => next PJ Turn 4 PJ turn : the engineer shoots OS another PNJ stunning mode ... spend 2 momentum => next PJ ... Sevek is still in the Runabout doing scans ... So Turn 5 PNJ ... they flee Turn 6 PJ turn : Command shoots in the back ... spend 2 momentum => next PJ Turn 7 PJ Turn : Conn shoots in the back End of the fight So the fight is no interesting ... all those options with aim so on ... are interesting but useless ... successes are too easy to get ... also I don't understand why so many options ... are they useful for Star trek ? ... tv shows are not really on to fights... 2.c. PJ go crazy trying to use their values all the time ... there is no limit ?
COnclusion 1. I like the basic systeme with the 2D20 it gives good results with success ... the use of the skills are pretty easy but I'm not sure about the D6 experience .... extended tasks are not extended ... execpt if you back the D6 systme and you say 5 to 15 are the number of momentur you need for the success of the task 2. Momentum points are ok ... but I dont' see the interest to create a pool available for all the group ... the one getting the momentum should imagine an event he creates to transfer some of his momentum to another player for a specific action during a specific scene ... "I cover you up while you open the door" ... I don't see why anyone could take those momentum for doing anything ... 3. damages are much too extreme ... I understand a phaser should OS a human being ... but a stone ? in fact any weapon OS someone ... X. values giving determination points ... my playres try to put themselves in situtations to get them all the time
PS : reading through Extended task I realise that I did it wrong ... I forgot about the getting as many breakthroughs as the Magnitude ... (even if what is the point in having so many differenet values ... try to simplify)so in stead of 1 meaningless roll ... you need x meaningless rolls ... x = magnitude ... => GM have to handle Resistance to make the rolls useful ...
TEST 2 ... tomorrow
CORRECTIONS par rapport a notre premier Playtest : 1. DONC les the d6s you're rolling for damage and Extended tasks - referred to as Challegne Dice or [CD] on the rules - aren't read as normal d6s Each Challenge die can result in one of 4 values: 1, 2, 0 or Effect as follows: Die Facing => Result 1 => 1 2 => 2 3 => 0 4 => 0 5 => 1+Effect 6 => 1+Effect Ce qui rent les extended tasks + les Damages ... jouables ... et plus une serie de OS ... 2.Using Values A character’s Values can help a character in difficult situations. They often provide an additional push to succeed, as the character’s convictions drive them to achieve more than they might have done otherwise. Whenever a character is attempting a Task for which one of their Values would be advantageous, and purchases one or more additional d20s for that Task, the character gains one point of bonus Momentum on that Task. Tasks, purchasing additional d20s, and Momentum, are described later. mais donc en situation de stress uniquement en theorie

| POST SUR MODIFIUS Playtest n2 ... 2 players - Martinez and Sevek All the corrections I made throught a better understanding of the rules ... gives a total different feeling ... they are much more interesting and solid.
My testers and I still have 2 points where we don't feel comfortable : 1. the quantity of momentum points PC can put in the pool ... We all agree that a limit of 1 momentum point for each roll is enough. 2. Values are interesting .... but some values are just to vague ... Sevek : Rationality and Precision ... as a science officer you can nearly use it all the time ... My players complained that some values are not explained (that would be lot of work to do all possibilities)... maybe if you create your own character, PC and GM should agree on what the value means and when you can trigger it. Maybe try to find a general condition to apply the value ... depending on the value ...
I also clarify that my players use equipement as usual star trek universe ...
Saved Momentum depletes at a rate of one per scene out of combat, or one per round in combat. This will be made clearer in subsequent drafts. Seems complicate to keep in mind ... the GM must always be clear what is a scene ... and counting the scenes ? ... eurk ...

| Tiens ta localisation me semble erronée.
C'est soit dans une prison (romulienne ou cardassienne au choix) soit en perdition sur un oiseau de guerre romulien ;p
Si je suis présent, je jouerai à la table libre | |
